INTERGENERATIONS
at the Ring House
A letter from Ring House
August 8th, 2013
Ruyan and C & T Summer School Staff,
How lucky we are to bring joy, education, engagement and generations together in Ring House and explore our world together. The “Outdoor Digital Journey Map,” that some students and residents did on Tuesday has given us some wonderful photographs for our October Intergenerational Photography” exhibit.
Today’s students demonstration/talks on the robots they made, the poems about Ring House visits, and collaborative science fiction stories held everyone’s interest! Since residents asked I will place copies of the poems and stories in our Ring Library with some pictures from the C & T Academy summer sessions.
So glad for the students thoughts that were shared. “I was confident today because the seniors were really friendly. The residents at Ring House went out of their way to make my class and me feel at home. I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from learning about their experiences through our conversations. I am so excited to visit Ring House in the future….. I got to take pictures of the group discussion diverse topics….”
It was great to see some residents use the control to make the robot machines move. And that they picked names for the robots. As the students were leaving they began creating a story about the friendships that were developing with the two robots. Just think of the dinner conversations tonight!
The Interages collaboration is growing a way to build lasting friendships and useful projects using technology, creative expression and nature. Without you and remarkable teachers with vision, it would not be possible. Ring House activities department staff and residents gratefully thank you for this opportunity.
